Project duration: 3rd September 2020 – 20 September 2021

Project partners:

  • Galati Research – Development Institute for Aquatic Ecology, Fishing and Aquaculture
  • Galati Association for Sustainable Development Prut – Dunare
  • Cross-border Cooperation and European Integration Agency

General objective:

Enhance the institutional capacity of ICDEAPA and its partners for applied research aiming to capitalize the cross-border potential of aquatic resources in a sustainable manner in the Lower Meadow Prut area.

Specific objectives:

  • Conducting research activities aiming to analyze the aquatic resources potential in the Lower Meadow Prut area and identifying the best solutions for a sustainable management of the resources.
  • Evaluating the socio – economic potential of Galati-Cahul border region and assessing the needs of the local population regarding the economic activities and sustainable use of aquatic resources in protected areas.
  • Research for innovative solutions to develop the “green economy” as a prerequisite for sustainable economic development in the Lower Meadow of Prut River.

Results of the project:

  • 2 biodiversity Scientific RESEARCH activities on Lower Meadow of Prut River
  • 80 specialized determinations tests: heavy metals analysis (40) and pesticides analyses (40)
  • 2 field analysis for Cross-border research socio – economic potential on territory along cross-border Prut River
  • 10 local events for socio-economic research: 5 events in Galati County and 5 events in Cahul District.
  • 295 participants at the socio-economic field research.
  • 1 final Cross-Border Integrated Research Study named “Research on biodiversity and resource status”
  • 2 panels on Green economy organized in Galati and Cahul.
  • 1 “Manual of Green Economy as priority of sustained cross-border cooperation contributing to economic development in in the Lower Meadow of Prut River”.
